Hi! I’m Fynn, the brain and busy hands behind Happy Tot Shelf. I am a Singaporean mom currently living in California with my husband and two children, Xue (6yo) and Qiao (3.5yo).
What was I doing before I became a mum?
I was a Chemical Engineer graduate, became a Science teacher, then made one radical decision to become a makeup artist. My children came along and I began my new career as a stay at home mum.
My daily job now involves getting paint off my face and slime out of little sister’s hair.
Why did I create Happy Tot Shelf?
My honest answer? Because I was so bored staying at home. True story.
From working full time to staying home full time, all of a sudden, I have so much time with my children. Desperate to keep my children busy and buy myself some sanity time, I began doing learning activities with them.
Best decision ever.
I had the biggest parenting/teacher realization which morphed into the reason behind all that I do at home and Happy Tot Shelf.
Every child loves to learn.
I watched in amazement as my 1yo tried to scoop pompoms into a bottle, over and over again. I saw my 3.5yo so engaged in matching letters with his little digger.
Turns out, we don’t have to get our children to love learning. They are already drawn to learning new knowledge and skills so naturally.
I guess the next important question to ask will be:
How do we keep this love of learning in our children?
Everyday I am finding answers to this BIG question and Happy Tot Shelf is my platform to share them with like-minded parents.
I am on a mission to help fellow moms and dads create a home learning lifestyle that encourages the children’s love of learning to thrive and grow. We are our children’s best teachers and we can so much to protect these little curious minds and hearts.
