Letter Matching with Play Dough in a Box

    Letter matching activity for kids

This alphabet matching with play dough activity from Rowdy Rascals is right up our alley and I knew we got to try this one. And because we are in our Back to School theme this month, this idea of doing the letter matching activity IN A LUNCHBOX popped up!

    Setting up the activity

You will need play dough (we love this recipe), letter beads and a lunchbox! Spread the play dough in the biggest compartment. Stamp each letter on the play dough. Putting all 26 letters in the space is quite a squeeze. If you like to include all 26 letters like ours, plan ahead first! Put all 26 letters on the playdough without pressing down. Once the positions are good, then press down on the letter beads and place the letter beads in the other 2 compartments. Invite your child to pick up a letter bead and match it to the letter on the play dough.

    Variation to this activity

You might like to do lesser letters for toddlers. Or stamp only the letters in your child's name.

    All in a Lunchbox

This is a great activity for on the go! Bring it to the car, or the restaurant! Clean up is so easy with this activity, everything goes into the lunchbox. My son is particularly amused to see not food but a learning activity in it!

I have a feeling you are going to see more lunchbox activities here! Stay tuned!
